Summer on the Waterfront is finally here, and the 2023 season is packed with excitement.
Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest and Spruce Street Harbor Park both open
on Friday, May 12. Perhaps the most highly anticipated announcements are the introduction of a few exciting additions to the food offerings at both parks:
 
James Beard nominated Cantina La Martina will join Chickie’s & Pete’s and Skelly’s
Amusements’ carnival eats at Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest, and Humpty’s Dumplings will be introduced to the amazing lineup of Spruce Street Harbor Park’s returning favorites: Philly Tacos, French Toast Bites, Ay Burritos, Frozen Delights hand-dipped ice cream, and Chickie’s & Pete’s.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 3, 2023) – If the early blooming of the iconic cherry blossom trees along Delaware Avenue is not an indication that carefree, warm weather days are imminent, then the opening of Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest and Spruce Street Harbor Park on May 12 is sure to seal the deal.

Summer on the Waterfront will run from Friday, May 12 through Sunday, September 24, 2023. The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) is pleased to announce the major dates and events for spring and summer on the Delaware River Waterfront. Also, in this release is a list of the new cohort of Resident Artists at Cherry Street Pier, and the introduction of DRWC’s Delaware River Trail Safety Campaign, to ensure the safe enjoyment of the city’s most active and well-traveled trail.

(Philadelphia, PA) - Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest Hosts Annual Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Skate + Beards on Ice Media Preview Performance.

WHAT: Celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14 with premium ice skating at Sweetheart Skate. Ticket holders will enjoy flowers, slow jams spun by DJ NA$H, and cozy cabins and fire pits, all in an enchanting setting on the Philadelphia Waterfront. Tickets are sold individually for $27 per person. Food, drink, and amusements are pay-as-you-go. Cabins and fire pits can be reserved in advance at RiverRink.com.

Join us on the rink before all of the sweethearts arrive to capture footage of the romantic scene that is set while also getting an exclusive sneak peek and media preview of the first-ever Bearded Ladies performance on Ice. The Bearded Ladies Cabaret will be hitting the ice at Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest for a show that’s cool to the touch but hot to its core on select dates from February 16 - 25. Expect bracing comedy, wild camp, sultry costumes, and wintry spectacle at the first-ever Bearded Ladies show on skates. Beards On Ice has two show experiences in two flavors: the Beards on Ice show (PG13) and the kid-friendly  Family Skate (content is specifically geared towards children). Both hour-long shows end with a free skate perfect for all skill levels. Hosted by Jarbeaux and featuring local drag superstars who have never laced up a skate alongside trained pros, catch this iceberg of a performance before it melts away. A short performance on February 14 will offer a hint of what’s to come.

Groundbreaking Celebrates Transformation for Philadelphia’s Delaware River Waterfront

(Philadelphia, PA) December 14, 2022 –  Jefferson Apartment Group (JAG) and Haverford Properties Inc. were joined today by city officials and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) for a groundbreaking event at Rivermark Northern Liberties—the new 9-acre mixed-use development on the Delaware River waterfront formerly known as Festival Pier in Philadelphia’s Northern Liberties neighborhood.

The development includes an array of public-use features, including a large public plaza, splash pad water attraction, art installations, an extension of the Delaware River Trail, and public waterfront access, in addition to 470 luxury apartment units and 45,000 square feet of vibrant retail and restaurant space anchored by a Sprouts Farmers Market. Most recently, the site was home to the Festival Pier outdoor concert venue, which closed in 2019.  

The development is slated for completion in Spring 2024.

(Philadelphia, PA) Thousands of bright lights will light up the tree and the sky as the holiday season kicks into high gear, and the clock officially starts for the countdown to New Year’s Eve on the Delaware River Waterfront. This year’s headlining performers include NBC’s American Song Contest’s Alexis Cunningham and Nitro Nitra. The full two-hour stage program will feature 13 acts and 40 performances that include gospel choirs, Latin ensembles, dancers, synchronized skaters, and more. Thousands of lights will illuminate the nearly 40-foot concolor fir tree. The evening will culminate with a beautiful fireworks display.

To set the tone for the season that is about going all out and rekindling traditions old and new, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation is hosting a weekend-long Ugly Sweater Contest. The celebration will round out with pop-up live entertainment including Orchestra 2001 and DJ RocDaSpot presented by the Women's Coalition for Empowerment on Saturday, November 26 from 7-10 pm, and vendors for a Small Business Saturday Market also on November 26.
