The newly minted Delaware River Trail is also hitting its stride as the most well-traveled trail within city limits for walkers, runners, and bikers. 

And yet, there is another major milestone to celebrate – especially as it has, in many ways, changed the lives of and provided opportunity for so many Philadelphia artists and entrepreneurs.

For 30 seasons, Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest has been Philadelphia's favorite winter tradition on the Delaware River Waterfront, inviting visitors to indulge in flights of fancy under thousands of sparkling lights in a winter wonderland with spectacular views of the Delaware River. Cozy up in comforting warming cabins and around firepit stations, enjoy boardwalk rides and games for the young and young-at-heart, feast on delicious food and hot beverages, take in the beauty of the signature holiday tree, and, of course, ice skate on our NHL-sized rink. Winterfest is a top destination for anyone looking to rekindle family traditions.

Philadelphia, PA (September 6, 2023) - In a joint press event at 10:00 AM along the Delaware River Waterfront, Governor Josh Shapiro, Mayor Jim Kenney, William Penn Foundation, Knight Foundation, The Pew Charitable Trusts, and Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC), as well as additional city officials and supporters, gathered to break ground on the $328.9 million transformative project that will once again reconnect Penn’s Landing back to the City and nearby historic attractions, a connection that was interrupted when I-95 was constructed in the mid-70s.
