Progress is moving along on the newest section of the Delaware River Trail - Penn Treaty Park to the Battery!
The team is excited to share that helical piles have been installed to support the new elevated boardwalk. These deep steel foundations are twisted about 40 ft. into the ground, which is why they aren’t visible from the surface.
Next, the contractor will test the piles to make sure they can safely support the boardwalk. Load testing is expected in mid-August, with boardwalk installation following in late August. The project remains on track for completion in late September.
As a reminder, pedestrians and bicyclists are instructed to follow the signed detour path when traversing the park to reduce the impact on the park’s turf grass. The detour plan can be found here:
