About the Flag:
This flag features a digital recreation of the mosaic floor from Ralph’s, the oldest Italian restaurant in the United States, and a longtime staple of South Philadelphia since 1900. The floral hexagon pattern has quietly witnessed generations of community life and reflects the resilience of Italian-American immigrants. By placing this design on a pennant, “Ralph’s Mosaic” highlights how everyday spaces—like a restaurant floor—can hold deep stories of history, culture, and hard work.
