Roots of Resilience explores the many cultures that have helped shape the city. Artists were invited to design flags that tell stories of hope, strength, and community, honoring the journeys of those who made Philly their home. From textiles to digital art, these powerful designs will fly high at Spruce Street Harbor Park from May 22, 2026, to September 7, 2026.

About the Flag:
This flag is made from fabric pieces and painted silk gathered from past projects, using quilt-making to tell stories through memory and personal experience. Inspired by revisiting familiar places through Google Street View, the work reflects on nostalgia, immigration, and the connection between past and present. Filled with bright colors and movement, the banner celebrates resilience and the journey of finding home in new places.

About the Artist:
Charlotte Gachet is a textile designer and silk painter who recently moved to Canada after spending years in Paris. Her work focuses on memory, migration, and the feeling of home. Using color, pattern, and silk, she creates textiles that tell emotional and personal stories inspired by her own experience with relocation and the resilience found in immigrant journeys.
