The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) is hosting a meeting on Wednesday, May 29th at 6:30pm at Festival Pier to gather public input for the design of its next connector street project, at Spring Garden Street. DRWC’s connector street program is intended to improve connections between Philadelphia’s neighborhoods and the Delaware River waterfront.

WHEN: Wednesday, May 29, 2013, 6:30pm – 8:30pm. The meeting will open with an interactive session with the design team and will be followed by a presentation from the designers.
WHERE: Festival Pier, Columbus Boulevard/N. Delaware
Avenue at Spring Garden Street.
About the project: DRWC has contracted with the RBA Group to design streetscape improvements to Spring Garden Street between Columbus Boulevard/N. Delaware Avenue and 2nd Street, including a new lighting and public art installation under the I-95 overpass and Spring Garden transit stop. The public art will be created by Leni Schwendinger Light Projects Ltd..

This project is intended to enhance connections from Northern
Liberties, Old City and Callowhill to the riverfront and ultimately connect to
the waterfront trail. The DRWC Connector
Street program stems from the Master Plan for the Central Delaware, adopted by
the Philadelphia City Planning Commission in 2012 following intensive civic
engagement and stakeholder input.
