Tap dancers throughout the U.S. and around the world celebrate tap dance as an American art form each year on Bill "Bojangles" Robinson's birthday (May 25). Join The Lady Hoofers Tap Ensemble at Cherry Street Pier on Thursday, May 22 to celebrate with an open tap jam.
Tap dancers of all ages are invited to bring their shoes to improvise with us, learn about the holiday's namesake with a reading of the children's book "Rap a Tap Tap," and join us in the Shim Sham Shimmy, tap dance's (inter)national anthem.
This event is free to participate or observe, but donations are welcome and will support future, free programming.
Parking on-site will be limited due to I-95 CAP construction. However, many great ways to access the Waterfront include walking and biking along the Delaware River Trail, rideshare, and public transit.
