With the completion of the Delaware River Trail (DRT) from Penn Treaty Park to Pier 68, DRWC is focused on closing the gap in the trail network to Allegheny Avenue. To help guide further planning, DRWC brought on NV5 Inc. to evaluate options for medium to long-range alignments of the Delaware River Trail from Palmer Street to Cumberland Street, the future home of Graffiti Pier Park.

This study will also suggest improvements to pedestrian access to the waterfront and will examine ways to better integrate the I-95 trail segment into the on-road and off-road bicycle networks. The final part of the analysis will study possibilities for a trail spur along the Lehigh Avenue viaduct to Aramingo Avenue.

Once the team receives input from the community and the study is completed, funding will be pursued, and final design and construction can then begin.

The project began in February 2023 and will conclude in late Summer 2023. A portion of this study was generously supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
