Delaware River Trail

Review the Delaware River Trail Planning Study that explores recommendations for the trail exspansion from Columbia Avenue to Lehigh Avenue along with neighborhood connections.

Download the Project Map. Review the Planning Boards.

With the completion of the Delaware River Trail (DRT) from Penn Treaty Park to Pier 68, DRWC is focused on closing the gap in the trail network to Allegheny Avenue. To help guide further planning, DRWC brought on NV5 Inc. to evaluate options for medium to long-range alignments of the Delaware River Trail from Palmer Street to Cumberland Street, the future home of Graffiti Pier Park.

This study suggests improvements to pedestrian access to the waterfront and examines ways to better integrate the I-95 trail segment into the on-road and off-road bicycle networks. The final part of the analysis studies possibilities for a trail spur along the Lehigh Avenue viaduct to Aramingo Avenue.

Now that the study is complete, funding will be pursued, and final design and construction can begin.

The study began in February 2023 and concluded at the end of 2023. A portion of the study was generously supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.
