Philadelphia, PA (September 6, 2023) - In a joint press event at 10:00 AM along the Delaware River Waterfront, Governor Josh Shapiro, Mayor Jim Kenney, William Penn Foundation, Knight Foundation, The Pew Charitable Trusts, and Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC), as well as additional city officials and supporters, gathered to break ground on the $328.9 million transformative project that will once again reconnect Penn’s Landing back to the City and nearby historic attractions, a connection that was interrupted when I-95 was constructed in the mid-70s.
