I-95 CAP Project

PennDot is replacing and expanding the existing covered section of I-95 at Penn’s Landing along the Waterfront in Center City Philadelphia under the department’s $329 million I-95/CAP project. Construction of a new 11.5-acre Park at Penn’s Landing, and a new South Street pedestrian bridge are the two main components of this project. The Great Plaza at Penn's Landing, located at the end of Chestnut Street at the Delaware River, has been home to some of Philadelphia's legendary concerts and festivals. This amphitheater-style space is a place for relaxation and contemplation with beautiful views of the Delaware River. 
 
The Great Plaza at Penn's Landing open year-round, seven days a week from dawn until dusk. Restrooms and an ATM are located at the north end of the Plaza under the Chestnut Mall. Fishing and skateboarding are prohibited at the Great Plaza. For Great Plaza facility rentals, please email the DRWC team through the online contact form
 
The Great Plaza at Penn's Landing will become part of the new Park at Penn's Landing, with construction slated to begin in early 2023. Sign up for our email list to receive updates about the new park design, development, and construction updates.
