The Summer Season Begins

Though the temperature may have dipped towards freezing last night, the Delaware River Waterfront has officially started its summer season.

On Wednesday we announced our entire summer season of concerts, festivals and our movie line-up and got a chance to see the waterfront from, well, the water.

Philadelphia Waterfront

Camden Waterfront

Morgan's Pier, one of our favorite neighbors, opened for the summer season on Thursday with new chef George Sabatino at the helm. The restaurant is offering up a new menu and a ton of great music throughout the summer.

Saturday and Sunday featured crafts from the Art Star Crafts Bazaar

An historic warship tattoo convention on board the Olympia

And a visit from the King and Queen of Sweden to the Independence Seaport Museum.

What a way to begin the summer!

Race Street Pier Promenade

On Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 6-9pm, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation will again host the Race Street Pier Promenade. The promenade will celebrate this spectacular park, which is one of the most exciting and new public spaces in Philadelphia. Funds raised from this special event will support arts programming that will enliven the waterfront and animate Race Street Pier. The event features fare from local restaurants coordinated by Ellen Yin, owner of Fork Restaurant, as well as cocktails, music, entertainment, and a Fireworks finale.

Columbia Ave Connector

Master Plan continues to move forward

The Philadelphia Art Commission gave final approval to the public art concept for our Columbia Ave connector project -- our joint effort with the NKCDC and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)!

Nationally renowned artist, Donald Lipski, will fabricate animal sculptures to honor the Three Clans of indigenous Lenape.

Combined with new streetscaping and underpass improvements designed by Studio Bryan Hanes, the connector will tie the neighborhood to the water, and evoke the spirit and history—both ancient and recent—of Fishtown.
