A collaborative effort by DRWC, New Kensington CDC, PennDOT and the Philadelphia Water Department has led to exciting plans for Columbia Avenue in Fishtown, a key connector street to Penn Treaty Park. As part of the Girard Avenue Interchange Rebuild (GIR), PennDOT will implement new streetscaping including lighting, street trees and rain gardens, and incorporate public art into the overpass rebuild. The public art includes sculptures of a wolf, turkey and turtles in honor of the Lenni Lenape Native American tribe. The art was designed by artist Donald Lipski and will be cast locally.
